PROCESS FLOW

Outside-in PVDF ultrafiltration process

Screened and conditioned feed enters the outside of the hollow-fiber membranes. Filtrate passes through the membrane wall while suspended solids and colloids remain on the feed side. Automatic backwash, air scour and periodic chemical cleaning control fouling.

  • Feed pump and safety strainer
  • PVDF hollow-fiber UF modules
  • Automatic valves and flow instruments
  • Backwash pump and tank connection
  • Air scour connection when specified
  • CEB/CIP dosing and cleaning connections
  • PLC control cabinet

WATER TREATMENT PRINCIPLE

What ultrafiltration removes

Ultrafiltration is a physical membrane barrier for particles, colloids, many microorganisms and macromolecular material.

UF does not remove dissolved salts in the way RO does. When TDS or conductivity must be reduced, UF is normally a pretreatment stage before RO.

Design flux and cleaning frequency must be selected from feed-water quality and operating recovery rather than nominal flow alone.

WHY THIS ROUTE

Practical advantages for selection

  • Low-pressure membrane operation
  • Automatic backwash and cleaning sequence
  • Stable RO feed turbidity and SDI when properly designed
  • Modular expansion by adding membrane trains

BUYER QUESTIONS

Questions buyers usually ask before quotation.

Use these checks to decide whether the route is close enough before sending water data.

Does UF reduce TDS?

No. UF targets suspended and colloidal matter; RO is required for dissolved-salt reduction.

Why are backwash and cleaning both listed?

Backwash removes reversible deposits frequently, while chemical cleaning addresses fouling that normal backwash cannot recover.

What controls the module quantity?

Required net flow, design flux, recovery, feed turbidity, temperature and cleaning downtime determine the module count.
