PROCESS FLOW

RO + EDI ultrapure water route

Ultrapure water equipment uses RO as the front-end desalination route, then EDI continuously removes remaining ions without chemical regeneration. Optional polishing resin can be added when the use point requires a stricter final quality.

WATER TREATMENT PRINCIPLE

What is EDI ultrapure water?

Ultrapure water equipment uses pretreatment and RO as the front-end desalination route, then EDI continuously removes remaining ions through ion exchange resin, ion-selective membranes and a direct-current electric field.

EDI can produce high-purity water without routine acid and alkali regeneration, reducing chemical storage and regeneration downtime.

Polishing resin can be added after EDI when the use point requires a stricter final water quality target.

WHY THIS ROUTE

Practical advantages for selection

  • Continuous high-purity water production without chemical regeneration downtime
  • Lower acid and alkali handling compared with traditional mixed-bed regeneration
  • Compact stacked EDI layout for equipment rooms with limited space
  • Automatic operation suitable for electronics, lab, power and precision process water

BUYER QUESTIONS

Questions buyers usually ask before quotation.

Use these checks to decide whether the route is close enough before sending water data.

What is the purity range of EDI ultrapure water?

Under suitable feed conditions, EDI systems can support high-purity water targets such as 15-18.25 Mohm.cm for many industrial applications.

What is the difference between RO and EDI?

RO is the front-end membrane desalination step. EDI is a polishing step after RO that further removes ions without chemical regeneration.

Can the voltage and system layout be customized?

Yes. Voltage, tank, loop, polishing resin and control layout are confirmed during engineering review.
