PROCESS FLOW

Single-stage RO system

Raw water such as tap water, well water, river water or similar feed water first passes pretreatment and precision filtration. A high-pressure pump then sends the water through the RO membrane section to produce product water. This route is normally used when one RO pass can meet the conductivity target.

WATER TREATMENT PRINCIPLE

What is RO?

Reverse osmosis uses a semi-permeable membrane and pressure higher than natural osmotic pressure to separate water from dissolved salts and other impurities.

RO membranes can reduce dissolved salts, colloids, microorganisms and organic substances. Single-stage RO is usually discussed when feed conductivity and final water target do not require a second RO pass.

As a practical reference, single-stage RO is often considered for lower-conductivity feed water and product water targets around the general pure-water range. Final design still depends on the water analysis report.
